Policy for Compeition Cancellation. Course Closure Policy, Heat, Lightning and Fog

Competition Cancellation

Must be effected per:    Captain (or Lady Captain for Ladies’ events) Vice-Captain, in consultation with the Course Superintendent or the General Manager.

Course Closure Policy

Must be effected per:    Course Superintendent (or Assistant) in consultation with the   Captain, General Manager & Pro Shop. Course Closure should only take effect under extreme conditions.

Heat

When over 36 degrees, Members to be advised by notice & Pro Shop, to drink water, seek shade & sunscreen.
That a thermometer is placed at the front of the Pro Shop. When the temperature reaches 40 degrees, the course will be closed. Players will be notified by hooter and marshal. Smoking on course will not be permitted on days of total fire ban.

Lightning

If the presence of lightening is detected, or suspected, the Pro Shop is to sound 3 x 10 second blasts on the hooter / siren. Players are to mark balls and leave the course immediately. Play is to be suspended immediately.

Fog

In the event of low visibility (as determined by pro shop staff) due to fog, play is to be suspended for safety reasons. In order for play to restart, a golf cart shall be visible from the first tee when parked at the 150m marker on the first hole.   

In situations where day light is limited (i.e. winter months) and fields are full. Time slots will be cancelled until visibility improves.
