What does a balanced Golf Swing feel like?
One thing we know about many ball sports, including golf is that balance is a key factor in correct technique.
Balance
is the only swing thought that I like to carry when I‘m in the heat of
battle on the course. The routine that I like to use for this is to
make some practise swings before hitting a shot holding my follow
through and to feel my weight balanced over my left heel, (for right
handers) and to show all my spikes on my right foot. The key to this
routine, is that I make these swings with my eyes closed, enhancing the
feel of the swing.
Try this routine next time you play and I bet your quality ball striking will improve.
Bunker Basics – Shoulder Turn
It’s too often during a bunker lesson that I need to clear up the
misconception of a client that when playing a bunker shot they should
make an “Arms only swing”. This can cause the club shaft to become very
steep and result in deep divots with a low-ball flight.
When hitting a bunker shot ideally we need to use our shoulders and
make a nice full turn back and through. This will allow you to use your
arms yet also enable you to keep a shallow shaft plane resulting in a
higher and softer landing bunker shot.
Good Luck!
